Editorial Style Guide
Why do we have an editorial style guide?
When we communicate at work, be it written or verbal, we are representing RSM. The decisions we make when writing influence and directly impact how others see us. By keeping even the smallest details consistent, we will better reflect our professionalism.
There are some rules in grammar that aren’t actually rules, they’re personal preference. Do I use a capital letter? Do I abbreviate a word or write it in full? How do I write a date or time? This style guide lists our firm’s rules and helps us make these choices when we write for RSM.
Our style guide is largely based on those used by The Economist and the Financial Times. Other sources include The Oxford Dictionary for Writers & Editors and the Concise Oxford English Dictionary. Our style reduces visual details in our writing, streamlining the page and making it easier for the reader to digest.
